a little guidance
which sound, and when?
There is no right choice. Start with the sound that feels most comfortable, keep it low, and change or stop whenever you need to.
White noise
Even, consistent sound across all frequencies. Good for covering chatter and sudden noise.
Best for maskingPink noise
Softer highs and balanced lows, like steady rainfall. Gentler than white for long sessions.
Best for focus and studyBrown noise
Deeper and richer, with more low-frequency weight, like distant surf. Also called red noise.
Best for deep restGreen noise
Balanced around the middle of hearing, closer to open countryside. Easy to leave running.
Best for calm and clarityDeep brown
Brown noise taken lower again: a soft, dark rumble that is felt as much as heard.
Best for sleep and late eveningsBlue noise
Brighter and airier than white, weighted to the higher tones. Some find it crisp and clearing.
Best for alert focusGrey noise
Balanced to sound even across what the ear actually hears, so no part feels too sharp or too dull.
Best for an even backdropViolet noise
The brightest, weighted to the highest tones. A thin, airy hiss some people use alongside tinnitus support.
Best for softening ringingListen on a speaker
On a phone or tablet, which is easiest: pair your device with your speaker over Bluetooth, and everything on this page, including your mix, plays through it.
On a computer with Chrome: open the browser menu, choose Cast, pick your speaker, and set the source to “Cast tab”.
Why there is no one-tap cast button: casting sends a speaker a file to fetch, and these sounds are generated live in your browser rather than streamed from a file, so there is nothing for the speaker to fetch.
Sound plays only when you choose it, never automatically. Not everyone finds sound soothing, and that is completely fine. If sound is not helping today, the reset zone is silent.
questions, answered
Is the hushri noise generator free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no ads, no account, no downloads and no time limits. The sound is generated live in your browser and keeps working offline once you have visited the page.
What is the difference between white, pink and brown noise?
White noise has equal energy at every frequency and sounds bright, like a hiss. Pink noise reduces the high frequencies and sounds softer, like steady rainfall. Brown noise reduces them further and sounds deep, like a distant waterfall, many people find it the most comfortable for sleep and focus.
What is red noise?
Red noise is another name for brown noise, the same deep, low-frequency sound. hushri also offers a deep brown option that is lower and softer still.
Can colour noise help with tinnitus?
Tinnitus UK describes sound enrichment, steady background sound kept just below the level of the tinnitus, as one tool among several for managing tinnitus, not a cure and not something to use as loud masking. Many people use white or pink noise this way. Keep the volume low and comfortable, and speak to a GP or audiologist for advice about your own tinnitus.

pair sound with a slow breath
Sound and breath work well together. Open the reset zone in a new tab so your mix keeps playing while you breathe. If you want to understand the room or your own pattern first, the noise check and self-check are here too.
